09-20-09: "I am a scientist and I worked for fifteen years with radioactive isotopes, some of fairly high levels.  My body was protected behind thick plastic shields but my hands doing the micro manipulation had only latex gloves for protection.  (These were the pioneering years of DNA sequencing)

As a result, my hands aged before my years and almost mummified, being nothing but cigarette-paper thin skin on bones, with large protruding veins.  I tried many types of hands cream, but with almost no flesh below the skin, it did not seem to be absorbed and it had no lasting effect.  Like other users, I gave up and accepted to live with dry parchment-like hands.

I noticed your hand cream because of its unusual packaging.  When every manufacturer goes overboard with fancy packaging on disappointed products, your green round box reminded me of a barrier cream I used (in another life) when I was a student nurse in England.  It was a very good product, so I decided to give your cream a try. I am very glad I did.  My skin may still be "see-through" but it is now supple with a slight sheen to it.  What I like best is that this cream is absorbed somehow, and I no longer leave greasy paw prints around.  (I hate wearing those white cotton gloves)

08-12-09:  " My daughter is 10 years old, and has been a competitive dancer for several years.  She has suffered from dry, calloused cracked hands and feet for 3 years now.  They crack, split, bleed and are extremely painful for her.  So bad at times that it is painful for her to even walk, or grip a pencil at school.  Dancing is her love, and obviously her feet have become a serious problem!  We have seen so many different Dr's in the past few years, and have tried so many different medications and creams that I can't keep track of them.  They had no idea what to do with her.  They've thought it was a fungus, psoriasis, extreme eczema, etc.  Most end up telling me she should quit dancing.  I was even told to use SUPER GLUE!!! 05/12/09:     "My daughter Kristin Draper (Draper Knitting Co.)was given a sample of O'Keeffe's Life Out There while at the OR show in January.  She got it for me with the stipulation that I get back to O'Keeffe's on how it works on lobster fisherman's hands.  Fishing starts up at the end of the month but just getting gear ready is a lot of handling of traps and especially lines (ropes) which are loaded with the salt from brine.  The lines are very abrasive and drying so the cracks on the hands show up even on the first day and the salt sting adds to the insult.  The first thing I noticed was that the stuff seems to stay in the cracks where other products don't seem to.  Secondly, there is no sting.  The next day effect is great.  I usually dread having to handle the gear on the second day but this year it didn't cross my mind till the day was over.  That was a sure sign that some healing had occurred.  I am impressed.  I will let you know how it performs when we get into the cold of late fall." Over the years, I have used Vaseline lotion and petroleum jelly; baby oil; Neutrogena; Ponds; Burt's Bees hand creams; bag balm; Corn Huskers Lotion; mineral oil poured inside my work gloves to soften my hands as I work. 4/12/00: " For about ten years, I have been battling a skin condition on my hands. I don't know if there's a medical term for it or not, but my dermatologist suggested that it was due to having my hands in water while gardening and working on certain art projects. He suggested wearing rubber gloves to wash dishes, shower or shampoo my hair. He recommended several applications of "Lidex" during the day, and a heavy application at bedtime with a covering of cotton gloves. 10/13/99:   "I am writing this letter to you to share my experience with your product and how it has changed my life. I have what's been diagnosed as dermatitis/eczema on my hands. I somehow developed a patch on the skin where my watch sits while at a camp in June 1996. We were baffled by the nature and origin of this rash. We thought it was simply dried skin and a product like Vaseline Intensive Care lotion would clear it up. How wrong we were. Not only did the patch not go away but it began to spread. I still can not explain how it spread but my hands would itch and if I scratched them, small boil-like bumps would appear and if I scratched more, the skin would break and weep and bleed. Needless to say, I was not happy with what was happening.

It became rather evident in the fall and winter of 1996 that my parents and I were losing the fight. No lotions seemed to have an effect on the eczema, let alone bring relief. Realizing that this approach wasn't working, we tried to starve the eczema, so to speak by eliminating the cause if it was food or drink. While this met with some success, it was so erratic that short of a scientific study, isolating the cause would have been impossible. Sometimes not drinking pop helped and then sometimes it didn't. We were at a loss.

The problems for me in dealing with what I would call the 'deterioration of my hands' were not the only ones I had to deal with. My hands' poor appearance began to be noticed by my classmates, especially into my senior year. I would be asked countless times 'What happened to your hands?' When I would tell them, their response would often be, 'is that contagious?' While I never had a stigma develop concerning my hands, people did notice and that bothered me.

Clearly the 'over the counter' battle had been lost so we sought out modern medical science to deliver the magic bullet. They instead gave us a shotgun. The dermatologist said that there was very little out there that did a good job but one steroid creme she had been involved in a study on worked well. She said it cleared the skin up in only a few days. The downside was due to its severe strength; it could only be used sparingly. What developed was something on the order of a pitched battle. The steroid creme would be used for a few days to beat the dermatitis back so it appeared to clear up. We then used a fairly decent skin creme, Aquaphor,  which seemed to help. As time passed, it became clear that this was not the way to go. The steroid creme would help but cause my skin to whiten somewhat where it was used and its thick nature made application before bed a problem. The Aquaphor would later only manage to keep my hands from getting any worse but not help them get any better. My hands would take a beating during the day and then only be held in check during the night. The patter of deterioration would continue until I had to use the steroid creme again. Also, the consistency of the Aquaphor caused my sheets at college to become discolored, causing more hassles.

This summer, I began work at Outback Steakhouse here in Spokane. The punishment endured by my hands as a busser finally pushed my cremes and lotions to the breaking point. My hands were clearly losing and even the steroid creme failed to even the playing field. We searched for a solution. My parents went to get me some bandages and noticed your product at the check out stand. When my parents told me what Working Hands Creme had been able to do, my first thought was, 'Yeah it probably helped some people, after all thats what keeps them on the market. But able to help me? I doubt it.' My previous dealings with so-called cures had been dubious at best. Still, I thought, "Why not? It may be the answer.' So I tried Working Hands Creme. I had found my answer.

Within a few days the trend was clear. My hands were clearing up faster and better than medical science could make them. As I type this letter, short of a few trouble spots, my hands are healed - a condition which I thought impossible just a short time ago.
