O'Keeffe's 3-Step Process for healing dry, damaged skin
O'Keeffe's products create the perfect microenvironment for damaged, split, and cracked skin to repair itself and regain its integrity. We utilize three chemical properties in combination to stimulate the skin to initiate the healing process.
First, O'Keeffe's products hydrate the skin with both water and glycerin. Glycerin is a humectant which draws moisture to itself at a molecular level causing hydration of the skin. Hydration is the process of replacing lost cellular water. This is vital because only hydrated cells are capable of repairing themselves.
Secondly, our products trap that moisture at the cellular level with two occlusive agents, stearic acid and paraffin. These highly effective ingredients prevent evaporation of the hydrating compounds and water.
Thirdly, O'Keeffe's products alter the pH in the dermis layer of the skin causing the chemoreceptors to sense this change. These receptors react by activating the body's own powerful repair cycle.
